Alphacool Core 1 Cooler Base

Hi Guys,

I bought the Alphacool Core 1 Aurora Carbon Cpu Block for my 7800X3D which uses an AM5 socket.
The AM5 IHS is flat while the Alphacool Core 1 cooler base is minimally convex.
Wont that cause improper contact?
Because if its minimally convex, then only the center makes contact.

Thanks!

Hi,
this is normal and intentional. The base is slightly convex so that when the cooler is mounted, the mounting pressure flattens it. The base is thin and under tension to ensure optimal contact pressure when installed.

So this is truly compatible with AM5 socket and should work well?

Yes, that’s correct, it was specifically made for AM5 and LGA 14700/1851.

We have never tested the coolers with a contact frame, so I can’t tell you for sure. As for safety, a contact frame is completely unnecessary. The number of customers with these CPUs is huge, and the percentage of customers using a contact frame is likely in the 0.0X% range. ;)
