Does Alphacool plan waterblock for AMD AI PRO R9700?

Hi,

I was wondering, if Alphacool is planning to make waterblocks (even on order) for the AMD AI PRO R9700.

Reason is quite a few of us in home AI server market, plan to get several of them (4-5) and would love to know if a waterblock is planned to be available some time in the future or not :)

At the moment, there are no coolers planned for the 9700 Pro. I can’t say yet whether we’ll make any in the future, but even if we do, they wouldn’t be released before Q2 2026.

Hi Eddy,

If AMD R9700 is using 9070XT reference design board, shouldn't a reference 9070XT block be compatible with it? Unfortunately the only source for this information is a picture of the R9700 heatsink from Gigabyte and looks exactly the same with your 9070XT reference block.

If that's the case, I am sure a big company like Alphacool should be able to get some details from AMD about it? (and possibly information about active cooling the backplate too?)

AMD isn’t really interested in companies like us. The contact exists, but the information we receive is rather sporadic, if not nonexistent.

There is no RX 9070XT reference design. AMD sells the chips, and the board partners then design their own PCBs. The R9700 does have an AMD PCB layout, but so far no cooler is in development for it. We’re still looking for someone who can send us one through “https://shop.alphacool.com/en/send-it-and-get-one-cooler-for-free”.

Apparently there’s no demand for it. Otherwise, we would usually be flooded with graphics cards so we can make coolers for them.
