240mm Radiator for i9-10900K and RTX 3090

Hi,

I'm planning to build my new PC with Intel i9-10900KF and RTX3090 and use water cooling to cool them both .

My chassis is the SilverStone RM42-502, which is only compatible with a 240mm radiator.
The chassis has only 426mm deep to install GPU, radiator, and fans, so I want to buy a thinnest 240mm radiator that can handle 10900KF & RTX3090 well for better GPU compatibility.

There are some plans for radiator:
1. XT45 240mm radiator with Push&Pull Configuration (total 95.5mm, 330.5mm left for GPU)
2. UT60 240mm radiator with Push&Pull Configuration (total 110mm, 316mm left for GPU)
3. Monsta 240mm radiator with Push Configuration (total 111mm, 315mm left for GPU)

Which option is best for my build?

Other water cooling components:
Fan: Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC- 3000 PWM x 4 For Push&Pull (25mm thick)
Reservoir: Alphacool Eisfach
Pump: Alphacool VPP655 - PWM

Hi esv5566, it's possible to only use a single 240 radiator with that configuration, but it will not be quiet under load and the components will get quite warm.

Some rough calculations, please be aware that every system is different, due to case size, air restriction, room temp etc. etc.
This is just a theoretical baseline

CPU TDP 125 W
GPU TDP 220 W
So under a synthetic load you would need to dissipate 345 W, in real world with a AAA Game probably around 250-300 W, although FS2020 on my machine almost behaves like a synthetic load...

A 240 mm Radiator with 30 mm thickness with Noctuas IPPC at 3000 rpm can dissipate slightly above 300 W
same with 45 mm thickness around 400 W
same with 60 mm thickness close to 500 W

these numbers are with a push configuration and with perfect airflow.
In your case the performance would be higher due to push and pull, but I don't know about your airflow restrictions.
Keep in mind with lower fan speeds the performance of thicker radiators drops of quickly until they are only slightly better than the slim ones.

Ideally I would try to go with another case that is more suitable for water cooling and with more surface area on the radiators

If you really have to make it work, I would go for the 60 mm thick radiator with push and pull, but no gurantees ;)

I wasn't aware of that I could calculate it by TDP and watts dissipated of radiator.

Intel i9-10900KF TDP 125 W
Nvidia RTX 3090 TDP 350W

So my cooling system have to dissipate at least 475W.

I decide go for Monsta 240mm radiator with push & pull configuration and looking for GPU which is smaller than 290mm length.

Hi, i do not think that the radiator would be enough to handle the TDP maybe at push/pull configuration but :unsure:

Hi, I just found that I can put another one 160mm XT45 radiator at chassis rear with push/pull configuration, would they be enough to handle 475TDP?
P.S. Rear fan is Noctua NF-A8 PWM (2200RPM)

I found the 3090 graphic card is too long to install with the 240mm Monsta radiator configuration.
Will 240mm UT60 + 160mm XT45 be enough for 475W TDP?

UT60 radiators are only good, if you use them with Push&Pull with high rpm fans. Otherwise they are worse than a ST30. What ias a 160mm XT45?

Sorry for the wrong product name,
the 160mm XT45 means Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 80mm Dual radiator

I'm planning to build my cooling system with below radiators:
1. Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 240mm radiator with 4 x Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-3000 PWM (3000rmp, Push/Pull)
2. Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 Full Copper 80mm Dual radiator with 4 x Noctua NF-A8 PWM (2200rpm, Push/Pull)

Would they be enough for 475W TDP system?

That will work, yes. But that will be not a silent system if that is your target :-/
