Alphacool Eisblock XPX Aurora Edge Acryl - mount orientation

Hi Guys.

We are experiencing higher than normal temps with the XPX Aurora Edge CPU block with intel 13900KF/KS in systems when we rotate the CPU block 90 degrees. (ports vertically aligned)

Is there any official recommendation on the correct way up for these CPU blocks or is it ok to rotate the block?

Hi,

what temperatures do you have and what are your water temperatures? Please note that the 13900KF/KS can reach over 100°C under load, even when water cooled.

Hi Vanzin.

Yep were aware of the chip's output.
With systems side by side vs a KF, we are finding the KS particularly is hitting up to 10-30% throttling with spikes up to 50% sitting at 100c in Aida64 (1hr stress) with 1x 45mm thick 360 Alphacool rad. On a Z790 Rog Hero with Asus Multicore enhances OFF.

Meanwhile, the KF will sit happily at 95-97c 0-3% throttling.

We suspect with the block at a 90-degree orientation it's limiting the hot spots on the heat spreader to having access to fewer fins to heat soak.
