How to power my pump? (Alphacool Eiswolf 2 AIO/RTX 3080 TI)

My mainboard has only 4 pin fan connectors, so I can't plug it in directly. The way I see it I could get a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter to plug it in to one of the fan connectors and set that one to DC. Alternatively I could get an adapter that allows my to plug it in the PSU directly to always have 12v. I like that because it would prevent a scenario where the pump stops working because, for example, I do a bios reset that sets the connector back to PWM. Question is: Is there any downside to doing that? I think connecting it the the mainboard would allow my to reduce the voltage and therefore the pump speed from bios, correct? But would I ever want to do that, e.g. to reduce noise?
