Issues with thermal pads on Eisblock Aurora Plexi GPX-N

I am installing the Eisblock Aurora Plexi GPX-N - Reference (11930) onto a zotac trinity OC rtx 3080. My card is on the list for the block, but the thermal pads aren't fitting quite right. On the GPU side, the small black pad does not make contact with the memory chip beneath it. This pad seems slightly thinner than the rest on this side, which were all white. Should I put a layer of thermal paste on the memory chip to try to bridge the gap?

For the backplate, only the 2 long narrow pads at the sides are making contact with the plate, the rest have a visible air gap. The side pads are much thicker than the middle ones. Wouldn't these pads just be acting as insulators if they aren't contacting the plate? Should I just remove the middle pads?
