As title.
I noticed that my RTX5090 WB for Gainward/Palit does not have the thermal pads marked in red in this photo:

Is this normal? why the original air cooler has thermal pads on that components while your waterblock not?

i am not from Alphacool, but i have some "knowledges" about GPU Cooling.

the Missing pads are the ones for the "coils" and coils dont realy need cooling!
if you cool down the coils too much it will increase the coil whine. So sometimes its better not to cool them with water.

They will get cooled enough over the PCB.

So i think this is not an issue at all, if you dont have any pads for there.

As already mentioned, the coils do not require cooling. With air coolers, they are only there to stabilize and protect the cooler. The huge air cooler is heavy and needs the support surface. Coils are generally never covered by water coolers, as it is unnecessary.

My gainward has some coil whine, as all others GPU I had in past like MSI Suprimx.

I watercool my systems to have a silent setup but it seems impossible this days.
In any case this waterblock is wild.

After a stress test with 3D mark speedway the max temperature was 52°C with an ambient of 24°C.
This thing is wild.
