'Gainward Phantom, Phantom GS, Palit GameRock, GameRock OC RTX 3090, 3080 waterblocks'

I wonder how configurator "would know" if i just saw on one hw site news about release of gamerock 3090ti linked to the announcement on palit's site, and probably nobody yet have card on hands and thus able to provide PCB pictures. Though different PCB is possible (unlike with 3080 & 3090), if...

I see that Palit released their 3090ti cards. I wonder if it will have same PCB, and if maybe it will help selling this WB inventory. Then again, Ti cost even more, there will be even less buyers of it (especially, as it makes much more sense with 3080 with 12gb), so probably won't make much...

Thicker pads can be less heat conductive. But if problem with thinner ones is bad contact, that is bigger issue then that. Seen threads that due uncommon pad thickness used in some cards, after changing old ones to new, supposedly better, but not of exact thickness & squishiness, temps took hit...

Still, unpleasant to hear, as after all, i've been one of those that generated that euphoria in forum :) I'd really appreciate too if you will (i guess it will involve comparing CAD drawings?)

Ouch. Bad news :( I hope that at least those that told in forum that they will buy, did. So i guess, it means with certainty, that no card specific active backplate will be made .. that still leaves up in air, if block from some other released cooled backplate can be reused/attached to our...

I perfectly understand AC to not wish to spend a lot for release of very small run product. All extra expenses not recouped by big enough run will turn out losses, and on top of our cards already being niche product, there might be even smaller number of those that will buy active backplate in...

Hmm, but from pics on all so far released blocks it looks like same waterblock but with card-specific backplate. We already have "passive" card-specific backplate in set of our blocks .. waterblocks from these new released active backplates cannot be attached to our passive backplates we have in...

Active Backplates - The time to wait will end soon!

Well, generating mad ideas is one of my ways to pass time/waiting for product :). It looks to me like design and production is done and wait that is left, is for ready blocks to arrive (hopefully not too long due covid impact on logistics), and i'll be able to see soon if my predictions are...

Active Backplates - The time to wait will end soon!

I predict that they'll try to design one as universal as possible, to better recoup R&D costs, as imho majority of customers, to save money, will keep buying w/o it, sticking with basic backplate in set with main gpu block, thus it makes little business sense to design specific active backplates...

Playasavas: 3070, as cheaper cards, are more common, but their owners are often less willing to shell out extra money for LC. They often also "need less cooling" and are often OK cooling noise wise on air cooling. Best way would be to get one of many of "reference design" there are already...

Pitty. I get business rationale behind, but it seems very interesting to see "how people do things" during developing phase of products i'm interested in. Probably some brainstorming, some 3d CAD modeling, 3d printing & cnc prototype machining, several testbench testrigs mix?

@Eddy feel free to dump here pics even with first concepts if it seems acceptable. While waiting for final product it's always interesting to find out about development process / what it might have been / what hurdles were met and so on :). Talking about it, suggesting something, rating...

RosaPanteren: OK, even without heatsink obviously those elements will be somewhat cooled with stock cooler's air stream. But then again due rest of card, especially main heat generating components, being cooled much better and at lower temps with LC, those bits will dump/conduct way less heat...
