Hey there,

I'm looking for an upgrade for my MSI 5080 Ventus.

Coming from a 3090Ti with factory AIO (Aorus Extreme Waterforce), I noticed a couple of temperature differences with the cpu alone. Almost 10 degrees C while in active use, not to mention the sound.

Would it be possible to use the existing alpha cool waterblock for the 5080 ventus to build something similar?

Not a whole custom loop but more of a AIO clone ?

It seems to me that you could change the waterblock to fit the 5080 and voila you have an AIO installed? or maybe i'm forgetting something?

What you are describing is possible, yes. The pump unit from the old Eiswolf AIO can also be mounted onto the current coolers.

Alternatively, you can wait until the end of the year. We will then be releasing an AIO for the 5080 reference design. The MSI Ventus is based on the Inno3D reference layout.

It even has two pumps installed, so the system is redundant.

I already imagine a healthy boost for Christmas

Atm i have a very specific game library installed, so i decided to reinstall the 3090Ti, and yea.. while more powerconsumptive the overal sound results are more agreeable

Another question btw,

i've had 2 AIOs (the Liquid Freezer II 420 RGB and the MSI Core Liquid RGB 360) so far that ended up with quite irregular pump fan noises, making it sometimes the loudest part of my build, especially during those cold relax turn-based warfare game evenings.
Both started out as very dependable and quiet coolong solutions, but after some time on my Meg Z890 ACE board, with the Ultra 285k, they both went quite loud.

searches with help of AI seem to indicate this being a very common problem. I also figured that MSI a MPG or MEG aio cooler part would have probably been the better choice from the start for this build.

With the idea of sending a 5080 for a rebuild in the back of my mind, I thought, 'Why not combine thought together with the thought of planning the purchase of yet another AIO ....

Could you recommend a alpha cool AIO for build? i'd probably loose the MSI freezer function but, if it is cool it is cool yea?
 
Our AIOs can be disassembled and cleaned, and the pumps can be replaced. However, if you want to cool both your GPU and CPU, a custom water-cooling loop will be the better and more cost-effective solution in the long run. Fittings, radiators, and reservoirs can be reused again and again, giving them a virtually unlimited lifespan. You’ll also have far more flexibility overall. Yes, the initial investment is a little higher, but you’ll hardly need to replace anything in the future.

Better and more cost effective. Those are 'hard' claims. You mean 5 degrees C lower overal operating temperature when compared to the double aio build and cost effective in a repeatable pattern?

I am tempted to try a full custom loop... at least once in my life, that much is certain... already determined that if go that way I would like to have separate loops for cpu and gpu, maybe even go hardcore and waterblock the MB too but, i also think the overall result, with all the fans and such will be overall a bit louder or comparable to the double aio build.

For now the pc is located almost next to my ear therefore i am also thinking about trying out an air cooler, to see if that would come near my preference in sound

Out of curiosity

The rebuild of my 5080 to a 5080 with aio + a new cpu alphacool aio would set me back around 6-800 euro's?

And maybe 8 - 1200 for a full custom loop + waterblock installations on the components i want waterblocked ?
