Hello, I need an external radiator

The XPX Pro comes with a suitable bracket.

Where you buy it is up to you. After all, you're buying our products. If you buy directly from us, we earn more from it, of course. But if you buy it from a reseller, that's good for us in a different way. It's advertising for us at the reseller that customers want our products.
As the UK is not in the EU, you will have to pay customs duties if you order directly from us as we ship from Germany. I would therefore strongly advise you to buy from a local retailer. You definitely don't have to have a guilty conscience. Quite the opposite.

Okay, understood, will see how quickly I can get the kit in the UK. Thanks for the help.

Just fitted the radiator, I don't have a spare port on the motherboard for the 2-cable PWM lead (I think for the pump speed) - any is there anything else I can do to control this?

I've tried running without it connected and the cpu temps are really high.

Thanks.

Okay, fixed that problem by running the fans and pump from same pwm.

However I only seem to be able to get adequate cooling with the radiator horizontal, when vertical with the reservoir at the bottom, the cooling is significantly worse - I assume there must be air in the system, any idea how to clear?

Gave it a good shake and that seems to have done it.

CPU temps under load are down from 95 - 97C to <55C.

Hi Crusty,

I bought two Alphacool Eisbaer Extreme Liquid Cooler Core 280 - Black Edition, to run my 3960x Threadripper back in 2021 - I have been very happy with it, looped them together in a Define 7 XL case. I haven't looped in my GPU. I did choose a different CPU block from Optimus that has a greater cover over the CPU surface - AlphaCool may have made new once since that provide greater coverage and cooling.

Good luck, looks like a great setup!

Thanks Henrik,

Mine seems to be working well with just a single 280 eisbaer extreme at the moment, I've seen about 80C once when using freecad on ubuntu. I think that's just a software issue though, the same operation on fusion 360 hardly impacted the CPU temp. The XPX pro block gives plenty of cover for the TRP with a bit to spare. I really like the silence compared with the OE heatsink tower that was fitted.

I did wonder about getting a second eisbaer too, I don't seem to need it yet, but need to run some CFD soon - so we'll see where that goes in terms of power.
